Consider the Lobster
Making the invisible visible by telling a story through graduate gradient throughout the entire book.
Insight
Consider the Lobster focuses on how cruel it is to boil lobsters alive, and footnotes add a fun touch to the seriousness of the content.
Design
Exaggerating the footnotes, by making them red and large shows the contrast between the body text and the fun footnotes.
Problem Solving
I thought that the reason why people don’t feel guilty seeing lobsters killed is that we don’t see blood, therefore we can’t relate to the pain. I added a red gradient to the spine which increases over pages, to represent the idea of blood and temperature rising.
